Schlitterbahn Vacation Village reveals initial line-up of attractions
The first phase of the new water park resort will open this summer with 24 slides and attractions including a Master Blaster water coaster, several water slide complexes, a children's play area and Schlitterbahn's signature Transportainment River System.
Cedar Fair contemplates sale of Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun
In an attempt to reduce debt and increase cash flow for the company, Cedar Fair is looking at the possibility of selling several parks, Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun included.
Construction continues at Schlitterbahn Vacation Village
The waterpark at the Schlitterbahn Vacation Village in Kansas City, Kansas continues to grow with site work nearly complete, equipment arriving and prep work for waterpark attractions under way. The Schlitterbahn Vacation Village development group is proceeding with all facets of the project. The grounds are groomed for additional phases of construction with 90% of the site work complete and 100% of the underground stormwater system finished.
Herschend Family Entertainment closes Celebration City
Due to a shift in business strategy, Herschend Family Entertainment announced the closure of Celebration City in October. The company is exploring various new development concepts for the site including an aquarium, other family attractions and re-theming the current park. With the park's closing Celebration City has been removed from the Coaster Con XXXII schedule.
Wahoo Racer, Glow in the Park parade coming to Six Flags St. Louis
For the 2009 season Hurricane Harbor will celebrate its 10th anniversary by expanding the water park to add Wahoo Racer, a six-lane water racer with top speeds of 35 mph. In addition, the theme park is set to amaze guests with the new Glow in the Park parade.
Worlds of Fun unleashes GCI terrain coaster in '09
Beginning in spring 2009, guests at Worlds of Fun become prey to Prowler, a beast of a wooden coaster tangled within the park's forested terrain. The two-and-a-half minute journey begins with a swooping 85-foot plummet into a ravine followed by a seemingly endless amount of high speed hills and sharply banked ground-hugging turns.
